The Connecticut born painter attended the Art Institute of Boston where she earned a degree in illustration. Since 1986, Karen Scata Design Company has been headquartered on the North Shore of Hawaii. Karen specializes in painting murals and has been commissioned by impressive customers throughout the world. Her paintings and murals are based on scenes from her extensive travels throughout Europe, America, Australia and the South Pacific.
Karen completed yearlong commission work in commercial design for restaurants at the 1992 World's Fair in Seville, Spain.
In 1996, she returned to the Art Institute and added a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree to her curriculum vitae.
In 1998, Karen was commissioned for interior design and mural work at the World's Fair in Lisbon, Portugal.
Most recently, Karen has begun to teach art classes on the North Shore of Hawaii. Karen has exhibited her work in many national and international galleries including: Livingston Art Gallery in Kaawa, Hawaii; and Hurricane Hotel and Gallery in Tarifa, Spain. Her work can be found in corporate and private collections across the United States. Karen is a member of the Association Of Hawaii Artists, the Haleiwa Arts Festival, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. |
